dc.description.abstract | Crop production is a prime occupation in agricultural based countries and India is one of them; its 60-70% peoples directly and indirectly depend on agriculture. But due to increasing population and decreasing per capita land holding forcing to produce more food to fulfill hungry stomach. Use of fertilizers for crop production is a costly practice; it increases cost of production, ultimate higher price of per unit crop commodity production but lowers margin to grower. Use of local potential nutrient supplying options like crop residue management, use of biosolids, biodegradable waste recycling and enrich compost. Biosolids have significant amount of plant nutrients and organic matter and due to fast urbanization and population growth its quantity increasing enormously but heavy metal concentration limits its use in long ways. The use of biosolids after proper treatment gives better crop yield and reduced fertilizers requirements. It enhances soil carbon content, nutrient cycling and microbial diversity in soil which improve soil health. It is a promising technology to reduce fertilizers import and reduced soil water pollution caused by heavy fertilizer dose. | en_US |
