Abstract/Description: | Tapic Endoaquerts were identified in parts of low and high swamp areas (P5&F6). Ustic Endoaquerts(P2) and Tapic Endoaquerts (P3) were identified in parts of deltaic lowlands and Typic Endoaquepts (P3) and Typic Endoaquertts (P4) were identified parts of mud flat lands. Tho latter two profilos exhibited relatively wider litirologicai discontinuities betwveen horizons based on morphological characteristics sand/silt, silty/clay, (sand+ silt)/clay and sand ratio, moisture retention characteristics, organic carbon, CuCO3 and electrical properties. These two profiles indicated frequent disturbance in their stabilization to form Vertisols. Whereas profiles P1 and P2 exhibited Vertisol properties even though showing some discontinuities. Proflles in the mangrove swamps (P5 & P6) showed no discontinuity within the observed depth. The formation of vertisols and associated soils in this region may also be attributed to have a marine influence in additiion to the effect of Godavari river system |
