dc.description.abstract | Calcareous nodule formation is more common than exception in the semi-arid tropics. The present study thus investigates the genesis of calcareous nodule formation mostly through morphological drawn data. Study was conducted in Surguja district, Madhya Pradesh (presently Chhattisgarh). Morphological properties of the soils and the calcareous nodules along with some physical and chemical properties were done following standard methods. The morphology of the soil along with that of the nodules showed that these were formed due to desiccation and lacked homogeneity. This accretionary process could also be a part of fluvial action. Other factors necessary for nodule formation including wetting and drying processes are discussed | en_US |
