Abstract/Description: | In order to evaluate wheat production system using different modes of irrigation, based on the survey, data on yield obtained at different fields irrigated by tube well, through pumping from canal or streams and those irrigated from canal through gravity were segregated for this study. Jamuniya, Jhansi and Khulri minors are part of left bank canal network of Rani Avanti Bai Sagar irrigation project wasselected as study area with command of 208 ha, 219 ha and 215 ha respectively. The water availabilityduring Rabi season in Jamuniya minor from canal was 1.54 Mm3 and from tube well 0.42 Mm, Jhansi minor has canal water 1.71 Mm3 and tube well water 0.85 Mm3 and Khulri minor 1.09 Mm3 from canal and 1.06 Mm3 from tube well. There was no significant effect of different source for irrigation water like canal, stream and ground water on yield of wheat crop, it shows an increasing trend of yields away from minor irrespective of mode of irrigation representing better crop condition and water management away from canal and water use efficiency more in ground water command of 1.72 kg/m in surface water command. |
