Abstract/Description: THE AUTHORS HAVE ATTEMPTED TO ANALYSE SHORT AND LONG PERIOD RAINFALL DATA PERTAINING TO BELLARY REGION LYING IN SEMI- ARID ZONE OF KARNATAKA STATE. THE PROBABILITY ANALYSIS OF RAINFALL FOR SHORTER PERIODS OF IDENTIFICATION OD SUITABLE PERIODS FOR SOWING , RETURN PERIOD ANALYSIS FOR DESIGNING OD SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION STRUCTURES AND DETERMINING THE SIZE OF STORAGE STRUCTURES , THE IDENTIFICATION OF NUMB ER OF VARIOUS RAINFALL EVENTS FOR DESIGNING WATER HARVESTING SYSTEMS FOR CROP AND WATER MANAGEMENT HAVE BEEN ELABORATED. THE RESULTS OF THIS STUDY WILL HELP TO PLAN THE WATERSHED MANAGEMENT PROJECT IN THIS AND SIMILAR AGRO.
