dc.description.abstractTHE EROSION INDEX (EI) DISTRIBUTION CURVES AND MONTHLY AND SEASONAL EI VALUES IN RESPECT OF 44 STATIONS , FAIRLY WELL DISTRIBUTED IN FIVE RAINFALL ZONES OF INDIA, HAVE BEEN WORKED OUT AND PRESENTED IN THIS BULLETIN. AN ATTEMPT HAS ALSO BEEN MADE TO DEVELOP A FIRST APPROXIMATION OF ISO- ERODENT MAP OF INDIA. A TABLE CONTAINING OBSERVED RANGE OF EI AND 2,5 AND 10 YEARS RETURN PERIOD VALUES HAVE BEEN PROVIDED. A RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN A THREE FACTORS PRODUCT OF RAINFALL FEATURES ( 3 YR-1 hr x 2 yr-24 hr x AVERAGE ANNUAL RAINFALL) , AND AVERAGE ANNUAL EROSION INDEX HAS BEEN DEVELOPED . ANOTHER RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN AVERAGE ANNUAL RAINFALL AND AVERAGE ANNUAL EROSION INDEX HAS ALSO BEEN WORKED OUT . THE INFORMATION PROVIDED IN THIS BULLETIN WOULD BE USEFUL FOR PLANNING SUITABLE SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION MEASURES FOR DIFFERENT REGIONS IN THE COUNTRY.en_US
