| Abstract/Description: | RESULTS OF PRELIMINARY TRIALS ON POPLAR HAVE INDICATED THAT DEHRADUN VALLEY PROVIDES A SUITABLE HABITAT FOR ITS CULTIVATION. MARCH PLANTING MAY NOT BE SUCCESSFUL UNLESS IRRIGATION IS AVAILABLE. BASKET PLANTING DURING MONSOON ENSURES SUCCESS. PLANTING OF TALL SHOOTS DURING MONSOON APPEARS TO HOLD PROMISE. HOT CLIMATIC CONDITIONS PROVIDE OPTIMUM GROWTH OF BLACK POPLAR PROVIDED SOIL MOISTURE AND NUTRIENTS ARE PRESENT IN POPLAR QUANTITY. |
