dc.description.abstract | Eight crossbred calves, (12-18m, 240 kg), divided randomly into two equal groups, were fed on concentrate mixtures containing ordinary rice bran (control) or 0.05% sodium chromate treated rice bran (Experimental) in equal proportions alongwith green bajra ad-lib. DM and OM digestibilities were similar in both groups but CP, EE and CF digestibilities were significantly higher (P<0.05) in control group and NFE digestibility was higher in experimental group (P< 0.05). N balance in both groups were positive and similar. Chromium balance In the experimental group was negligible and there were no adverse symptoms of dietary Cr. The body weight gains in both the groups were statistically similar. Thats, sodium chromate treated rice bran can safely substitute ordinary rice bran in the concentrate mixture of cattle. | en_US |
