Abstract/Description: | Chemokines are members of the cytokine family of regulatory proteins. They generally have low molecular weights, ranging from 7 to 15 kDa, and stimulate recruitment of leukocytes.Chemokines are secondary pro-inflammatory mediators, i.e., they are typically induced by primary pro-inflammatory mediators such as interleukin-1 (IL-1) or tumor necrosis factor (TNF). The physiologic importance of this family of mediators is derived from their specificity. Interleukin-8 (IL-8) is a prototypical member of the CXC chemokine family. The present study describes the PCR amplification of interleukin-8 (IL-8) encoding gene from the healthy Indian Dromedary camels (Camelus dromedarius). The gene sequences of IL-8 encoding gene of the Dromedary camel were submitted to GenBank, for which the assigned GenBank accession No. is KF843702. In this study, the open reading frame of IL-8 gene obtained from Indian Dromedary camel is 300 bp and encodes a polypeptide of 99 amino acids. |
