| Abstract/Description: | THE EFFECT OF VARIOUS INTERCROPS ON THE YIELD AND ECONOMICS OF THREE IMPORTANT CROPS OF THE REGION ON THE ERODED SOILS OF GUJARAT HAS BEEN STUDIED. THE RESULTS SHOWED A MARKED INCREASE IN THE YIELD F COTTON , REDGRAM AND CASTR (19.2, 26.9) AND 25.4% RESPECTIVELY DUE TO INTERCROPPING WITH COWPEA AS COMPARED TO PURE CROP. MAXIMUM NET RETURNS WERE ALSO RECORDED WHEN CROPS ( COTTON, REDGRAM AND CASTOR) WERE GROWN WITH COWPEA AS COMPARED TO PURE CROP OF COTTON , REDGRAM AND CASTOR. OTHER INTERCROPS ( KODRA, BAJRA AND TIL) WERE NOT EFFECTIVE. |
