| Abstract/Description: | IMPROVED AGRONOMIC TECHNIQUES PERTAINING TO BLACK SOILS OF BELLARY REGION HAVE BEEN DESCRIBED IN THIS PAPER. SOWING PERIOD WITH ASSURED RAINFALL IS LIMITED TO 2-3 WEEKS . INCLUSION OF DOLICHOS, PIGEONPEA, BENGALGRAM, CASTOR , SAFFLOWER AND CORIANDER IN PROPER SLOTS OF SOWING PERIODS , WILL HELP TO INCREASE AND MAINTAIN THE LEVEL OF PRODUCTION... ADOPTION OF CONSERVATION PRACTICES EG BORDER STRIPS, ZINNG TERRACES AND VEGETATIVE BARRIER COULD SUBSTANTIALLY INCREASE THE GRAIN YIELD OF SORGHUM BY 41 , 36 AND 29% RESPECTIVELY. |
