| Abstract/Description: | DETAILED ANALYSIS OF RAINFALL - RUNOFF RELATIONSHIP, WATER BALANCE AND GROUND WATER RECHARGE PERTAINING TO A WATERSHED AT CHINNATEKUR IN KURNOOL DISTRICT ( ANDHRA PRADESH) HAS BEEN PRESENTED. RUNOFF AND SOIL LOSS FROM TREATED WATERSHED WITH CONSERVATION MEASURES SUCH AS CONTOUR TRENCHES GOT REDUCED BY MORE THAN 100% WHEN COMPARED WITH UNTREATED WATERSHED. SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION MEASURES IMPROVED GROUND WATER RECHARGE, RESULTING IN A 36% INCREASE IN CROP AREA WHICH COULD BE IRRIGATED BY WELLS , WHICH INCREASED CROP YIELDS BY 69%. |
