Abstract/Description: | In order to study the performance of growth and the quality of meat, day old White Leghorn (WLH) male chicks (n: 200) were randomly assigned to different experimental diets containing deoiled rice ban (DRB) and its supplementation with graded levels of tallow. Replacement of rice polish (T1) with DRB (T2) and the supplementation of tallow of 2 (T3), 4 (T5), and 6 (T5) percent resulted in a significant (P < 0.01) reduction in the feed intake. However, addition of tallow at graded levels showed a significant (P < 0.01) feed : gain ratio as compared to T1 and T2. The calcium balance of T, as well as that of T3 and T4 has resulted in a significant (P < 0.01) increase as compared to T2. However, addition of tallow at 6 percent (T5) showed a (P < 0.01) decrease in calcium balance, as compared to T1 and T4. The phosphorus balance was significantly (P < 0.01) lower in T, as compared to all the other treatments. The production cost with the T2 diet was the most economical. |
