Abstract/Description: | Due to moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal and supporting upper atmospheric features, fairly widespread to widespread rain/thundershowers very likely over Northeast India and scattered to fairly widespread over East India during next 2-3 days. Confluence between westerlies and moist easterlies likely to cause scattered to fairly widespread rain/thundershowers over western Himalayan region and isolated to scattered rain/thundershowers over adjoining plains of north-west India during next 24 hours. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, gusty winds/squalls and hailstorm likely to occur at isolated places over these regions during next 24 hours. • Due to trough/wind discontinuity, isolated to scattered rain/thundershowers very likely over parts of central & south peninsular India during next 4-5 days. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) at isolated places also likely over these regions during this period. • Heat wave conditions in isolated pockets are very likely over Vidarbha during next 2 days and over West Rajasthan during 8th-9th May. Maximum Temperatures likely to remain between 41-43°C over some parts of Telangana, Rayalaseema and North Interior Karnataka and between 41-44°C over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada and Vidarbha and 40-41°C over interior Tamil Nadu during next 2 days. • The low pressure area over south Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal has become less marked. |
