| Abstract/Description: | Most of the finishing treatments on jute fabric, discussed in the paper, improves the feel, quality and look of the fabric to a certain level but there is considerable loss in strength properties and health hazards. Looking to the present competitive situation of jute fibre with synthetic in conventional applications, it has been necessary to develop high value diversified jute products to meet this challenge. Hence, the finishing of jute fabric for diversification of jute products is likely to play very important role in future. In view of this, there is urgent need to develop new economical and durable finishing processes to improve the properties of jute textiles. |
