dc.description.abstract | Ketone bodies are the intermediary product of fat catabolism and are utilized by most of the body tissues except liver and brain by converting AA into acetoacetyl CoA, which then form acetyl CoA and undergo oxidation in tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, or it can be used for fat synthesis especially in mammary glands (Baird et al., 1968). Since ketone bodies are produced by liver and utilized by other tissues the ketotic condition may occur by overproduction of ketone bodies followed by its under utilization (Fig. I) because of inhibition of enzymes under the presence of excessive ketone bodies (Brockman 1979). | en_US |
