| dc.description.abstract | The interest for renewable resources for fibres particularly of plant origin is increasing in recent days. Therefore, several non-traditional plants are being studied with the aim to isolate fibres from plant’s leaves or stems. Emphasis has been put to explore more and more natural sources and derived fibres to produce various textile materials for safer use. The growing awareness towards the environmental implication and health issues associated with synthetic fibre products has increased the attention towards these natural fibres. Research work has been carried out by AICRP-H.Sc to obtain fibres from the bark of Cotton rose, (Hibiscus mutabilis) plants through water retting. Comprehensive use of this fibre in different field like technical textiles (Sanitary napkins), fabrication techniques like woven and non-woven fabric were also carried out to make use of these extracted fibres . | en_US |
