| Abstract/Description: | Theaverageannualrainfallof887mmintheMungalsub-watershedasrecordedfromtheSydhapurastationdatabyKSNDMC. 77percent,15percentand8percentoftheannualrainfalloccursduringkharif,rabiandsummerseasonsrespectivelyandexhibitedahighertemporalvariability. Theevapotranspirationestimationtooldevelopedindicatesthatthewatershedwaterbalanceisinsustainablelimit. Theestimatedrunoffavailabletouseis134mmforanaverageannualrainfallof776mm(2009-2017).Theutilizablegroundwateris50mm(70%of71mmrechargeestimated).Thismeansthetotalavailablewaterresourcecombiningthesoilmoisturestoreforkharif&rabi(191mm)andutilizablerunoffplusrechargeis375(=191+50+134) Theaverageactualevapotranspirationestimatedinthewatershedbasedonthecurrentlanduseandirrigationpracticesforthekharifandrabiseasonsis495mm.Hencetheamountofwateruseforkharifandrabiseasonsmaybeestimatedas619mm(i.e125%ofAET).Thisdemandforthetwoseasonsishigherby244mm,i.e.(619-375).TheAETinJune-Septmonthsis56%ofrainfall.Hence,thereisagoodopportunitytoharvesttheexcesswaterthroughwatershedmanagementpracticesforutilizingduringrabiseason. ThetotalnumberofwellspresentinMungalSub-watershedasperLRIdatais34(34-Borewells&Openwell-1).ThegroundwaterlevelwasfoundfromthedataobtainedfromKSNDMCfortheneareststationSaidapur.Deepestlevelswerefoundin2010. |
