| Abstract/Description: | Theaverageannualrainfallof631mmintheHireshindhogisub-watershedasrecordedfromtheAlavandistationdatabyKSNDMC. 60%,21%and19%oftheannualrainfalloccursduringkharif,rabiandsummerseasonsrespectivelyandexhibitedahighertemporalvariability. Theevapotranspirationestimationtooldevelopedindicatesthatthewatershedwaterbalanceisindeficit.Thecropping&irrigationchoicesareinappropriateandneededtobealtered. Theestimatedrunoffavailabletouseis8mmforanaverageannualrainfallof524mm(2009-2017).Theutilizablegroundwateris31mm(70%of44mmrechargeestimated).Thismeansthetotalavailablewaterresourcecombiningthesoilmoisturestoreforkharif&rabi(228mm)andutilizablerunoffplusrechargeis267(=228+31+8) Theaverageactualevapotranspirationestimatedinthewatershedbasedonthecurrentlanduseandirrigationpracticesforthekharifandrabiseasonsis516mm.Hencetheamountofwateruseforkharifandrabiseasonsmaybeestimatedas645mm(i.e125%ofAET).Thisdemandforthetwoseasonsishigherby378mm,i.e.(645-267).TheAETinJune-Septmonthsismorethanrainfall. ThetotalnumberofwellspresentinHireshindhogiSub-watershedasperLRIdataare204(188-Borewellsand16-Openwells).ThegroundwaterlevelwasfoundfromthedataobtainedfromKSNDMCfortheneareststationHireshindhogi.Deepestlevelwasfoundin2009year |
