| Abstract/Description: | A preliminary investigation on organochlorine pesticide residues in water and fish flesh of a sewage fed bheri and a floodplain wetland of West Bengal was carried out during 2003. The study indicates presence of higher amount of DDT and its metabolites in water to disturb the aquatic life processes. The fish flesh residue levels were found to be insignificant and may not cause any harm on human consumption. |
