dc.description.abstract | The wear behaviour of medium carbon boron steel with various heat-treatment cycles (annealing, intercritical annealing, and quenching and tempering) has been examined after and prior to shot peening. Shot peening intensity varies in the range 0.17 - 0.47 mm ALMEN ‘A’. The wear rate of intercritical annealed and quenched and tempered steels are considerably less than those of as-received and annealed steels, irrespective of the peening intensity. It is further noted that the wear rate reduced significantly irrespective of heat-treatment schedule at the critical peening intensity of 0.27 A, mm ALMEN. | en_US |
