Abstract/Description: The histo-pathological changes in the skin of black Bengal breed goat experimentally infected with Sarcoptes scabiei var. caprae was studied. The sections revealed invasion of the parasites, acanthosis, hyperkeratosis and parakeratosis in the epidermal layers. Acute haemorrhagic changes and cellular infiltration were also observed. In few places, hyperplastic changes in sebaceous glands were also observed. There was increased storage of keratin and prekeratin in stratum spinosum, in comparison to the healthy control skin. Where as melanin storage in the layer of stratum malpighii was reduced in the infected skin in comparison to healthy control skin.
