dc.description.abstract | The study conducted on a sample of 100 milk producing households of different categories in Murshidabad district of West Bengal revealed that bulk of the milk produced (84 percent) was sold in the market in study area owing to low propensity of consume milk. The marketed surplus as a proportion of total milk production was the highest in the case of small farmers and the lowest in the case of large farmers. Among the different factors affecting marketed surplus, milk production was found to be the most significant having positive relationship with the marketed surplus of milk in all categories of households. The annual household income and family size were also significant but they had negative relationship with the marketed surplus of milk. The effect of family size on marketed surplus of milk was observed only among landless labourers. | en_US |
