| Abstract/Description: | Acute gastric dilatation in dogs is an acute condition that is often accompanied with volvulus. It is observed mostly in large and deep chested breeds like, Great Dane, Irish setter, Doberman and Irish wolfhound (Glickman et.al, 2000). Occasionally, the condition is reported in small breeds like Dachshund and Cocker spaniel. There seems no report available on occurrence of this condition in Pug. The present report describes a case of acute gastric dilatation in Pug. A two months old male Pug was presented to Veterinary Teaching Hospital, GADVASU, Ludhiana for evaluation of dyspnea. The pup had a 12 hours old history of abdominal distension, restlessness, anorexia, hyper salivation and open mouth breathing. The pup was weaned about 15 days back and fed entirely with cow’s milk. |
