Abstract/Description: | Low intake of nutrition rich food in the diet and lack of nutrition may cause various short and long term health issues amongrural people especially farm women. To ensure a healthy diet, women and youth in villages must be taught about the role of macro and micronutrients, the importance of cultivating variety of vegetables and fruits in nutri- garden. Vegetable and fruit-based nutri-garden is the richest source of nutrition and can play an active role in eradicating undernutrition. Nutri-garden is an advanced form of kitchen garden in which fruits and vegetables are grown as a source of food and income. For small and marginal farmers, nutri-garden can generate a critical contribution towards a diversified family diet and provide several other benefits, particularly for women. |
