| Abstract/Description: | The Indian Lac Research Institute (ILRI) was started, on the basis of recommendation of an enquiry committee constituted by the Government of India to enquire into the condition of the Indian lac trade and suggest measures for its all-round improvement. In order to implement this suggestion, members engaged in the lac trade at that time constituted themselves into a private registered body under the name, Indian Lac Association for Research.
