Description In extension of the studies on the formation of cellulose by Acetobacter acetigenum (Z-4), the action of this organism on glycerol has now been investigated; this paper records the examination of the products formed in a defined glycerol medium buffered with lactate. Preliminary observations on the action of this organism on ethylene glycol and on inositol are also reported.
