Description |
Garden Pea (Plsum sativum) is one of the most important vegetable crop grown the world over. Garden peas are priced, because of their taste and nutritive value. These contain a high percentage of digestible proteins, sugars, minerals, and vitamins A, B and C (Cherian et al., 1955). As a processed vegetable peas rank next only to tomatoes, but it is a leading vegetable as a frozen food (Talbert, 1953). Pea is believed to be native of Europe and West Asia, while its wild prototypes came from Ethiopia (De Candolle, 1986).
