Description Yellow horned poppy (Glaucium flavus Crantz) is a biennial herb introduced in India from Bulgaria. This herbaceous plant is extensively cultivated in Bulgaria, Turkey, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, former O.S.S.R., Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia (Gasic and Popovic, 1988). It belongs to family Papaveraceae and is grown for its leaves and pods which contain "glaucine", the physiologically active alkaloid of this medicinal plant.
