India is known the world over "The Home of Spices". The seed spices are an important group of agricultural commodities and playa significant role in our national economy. India is the world's largest producer, consumer and exporter of seed spices which are important export oriented commodities and about 10 per cent of the production is exported in raw as well as value added products realizing foreign exchange worth of rupees 206.50 crores (Vijay and Malhotra, 2001).
