Description |
On May 26-27, 1972, at the Conference of Anthropologists in New Delhi, it came to the notice of participants that Himachal Pradesh, as a whole, was an "unresearched area" because the work done so far in respect of the other tribal areas also was scanty, sporadic and sketchy. Naturally the unresearched areas were to be entitled to priority. Lahoul, Kinnaur and Spiti were actually mentioned in the conference among the areas to be taken up immediately for anthropological research. The other tribal areas of Himachal Pradesh, also being, as reasoned above, still unresearched, this urgency would extend to all the tribes of the Pradesh. Thus this research work came to embrace all the scheduled tribes of the Pradesh.
