If you live within 48 hours' distance from the Himalaya, as I do, then Himachal Pradesh holds the best attraction. Within a week or two you can climb and trek to your satisfaction. These smaller peaks and areas of Himachal Pradesh are easily accessible. Here I could combine business with pleasure. Col. Jimmy Roberts used to finish his Friday evening army parade at Dalhousie cantonment and reach the foothills of the Dhauladhar by car for the night. I tried my 'cloth merchant version from Bombay.
