Research in agriculture got an unprecedented impetus in the country during the last three decades. Massive input in agricultural research was in a way symbolic of our irresistible desire not only to fight against hunger but also to build a strong and self-reliant India. With the advent of new scientific technology, Indian agriculture has witnessed a sea change. Agriculture today is no more a way of life. This change has necessitated a new mode of thinking.
