Description ,
(1.72) and clump weight/plot (353,86 g) were found higher under wider
spacing (30x45 em),
Nlmlber of days to first flowering was advance at higher level of
nitrogen while; it was delayed 37 days in lower dose of nitrogen (100
kg/ha), Application of nitrogen at 400 kglha recorded significantly the
highest values of vegetative, floral and quality characters viz,. plant height
(51.55 cm), number of leaves (49,84), number of days to first flowering
(109,61 days), spike i~ngth (104,05 em), rachis length (31.56 cm), number
of florets/spike (40.38), nwnber of spikes/ha (1,97,359.39), bulb yield
(43.05 t/ha), diameter of floret (43.81 mm), length of floret (7.76 cm)
diameter of bulb (3,07) and vase life (7,76 days), All the parameters were
increased with increasing levels of nitrogen.
The effect of phosphorus was non-significant on vegetative
characters while, floral characters viz" rachis length and nwnber of
florets/spike and quality characters viz" length of floret and diameter of
bulb were fOWld significant. However, higher and medium dose of
phosphorus were statistically at par, Similarly, spike yield in terms of
spikes/plot, spikes/m2 and spike/plant were fOWld significant in pooled
results, Furthellnore, P2 and P3 were at par, Likewise, bulb yield in tenns
of clump weight/plant (337.31 g), clump weight/plot (8.27 kg) and bulb
yield (3830 t/ha) were also fOWld significant and P3 (200 kg P20s!ha)
recorded higher values.
Thus, it can be concluded that for better performance of
tuberose cv. Single, it should be planted at closer spacing of 30x20 em and
fed with 400 kg nitrogen and 200 kg phosphorus per hectare, Moreover,
these treatments gave tugher net income of Rs, 84,028, 1,54,093 and
1,38,229, respectively.
