Description |
This collection is one of a set from a synchrotron experiment performed in April 2016 observing gas diffusion process in coal . This collection contains the data for xenon gas diffusion acquired at 34keV. The gas diffusion process in different coals samples of around 7mm diameter was observed using micro-CT over a period of 3 days (the duration of the synchrotron experiment). Similar samples were exposed to pressurised xenon, krypton or CO2. The first two gases are clearly visible in the micro-CT images so diffusion over time can be easily observed. For the CO2 the swelling can be observed and with detailed analysis a small change of x-ray attenuation corresponding to gas uptake can also be observed. More details are given in the documents included as a supporting attachment.and in the paper : Sheridan Mayo, Matthew Josh, Dane Kasperczyk, James Kear, Junfang Zhang, Jeremie Dautriat, Marina Pervukhina, Michael Ben Clennell, Richard Sakurovs, Neil Sherwood, Anton Maksimenko, Chris Hall, Dynamic micro-CT study of gas uptake in coal using Xe, Kr and CO2, In Fuel, Volume 212, 2018, Pages 140-150, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.fuel.2017.10.041 |
