Description |
A consortium from ANU, AIRBUS Defence and Space and CSIRO was established to identify future opportunities and development of new satellite applications. The ACT Government has funded an activity to stimulate economic growth through the identification of new applications for space-derived data and the translation of these ideas into commercial products and services. Through the ACT Healthy Waterways Project, the ACT Government is investing in significant infrastructure to reduce nutrients and sediment supply to the ACT water bodies. There will be up to 25 water quality assets built and an in-lake monitoring program will be undertaken in Lake Tuggeranong and Jerrabomberra Wetlands. CSIRO engaged with ACT Healthy Waterways Project and explored opportunities to provide satellite-derived water quality products during the monitoring program on Lake Tuggeranong. It was postulated that satellite-derived data could better inform or validate the physical and biochemical models and thereby further improve the understanding of in lake processes.
