Native breeds of chicken have been reported in various countries like India, Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Turkey, China etc. They possess certain distinctive qualities that includes high immunocompetence and better meat quality compared to commercial broilers. In the recent years there is an increasing trend in consumer and farmer preference to native chickens due to the better taste and flavor of meat and eggs and higher disease resistance.
