Total 148 germplasm of bitter gourd were screened against downy mildew disease at ICAR-IIVR, Varanasi (U.P.) under natural field conditions. The lines identified tolerant/resistant under natural field conditions were further screened under artificial inoculum condition. Artioficial inoculation of the pathogen on bitter gourd revealed that disease initiated on 5th days inoculation out of 148 germplasm lines screened against downy mildew (Pseudoperonospora cubensis), NIC-12285 and VRBT-39 were moderately resistant with high degree of tolerance. IC50524A, Wild-27, VRBT-1, IC68250B, IC68313, IC85618 and VRBT-21 were found moderately susceptible. Slow mild resistance (SMR) was observed in IC50520B, Wild-27, IC682250B and IC68314. These lines were having inherent characteristics Not Available |
