Plant parasitic nematodes are a serious problem in black pepper (Piper nigrum L.). Present status of diversity and community profile of nematodes associated with black pepper from Idukki District, Kerala was assessed. Present survey revealed that, burrowing nematode Radopholus similis and lesion nematode Pratylenchus sp. were key nematodes of black pepper and their occurrence were ubiquitous and found in almost all Idukki District. Scutellonema sp. and predatory nematodes are reported for the first time from black pepper rhizosphere in Idukki District in Kerala.
