The information on critical levels of nutrients for the cassava growing red and laterite soils of Kerala were lacking. Hence, two separate pot culture experiments one each for P and K were carried out for the loamy skeletal isohyperthermic Rhodic Haplustox (Typic KandiUstults) of Kerala using maize as the test crop to arrive at their soil critical levels. The scatter diagram and discontinuous regression models of Cate and Nelson employed to arrive at the critical levels of P and K recorded values as 8.3 and 8.23 micro g g-1 and 43.5 and 45.5 micro g g-1 respectively.
