Cassava, a tropical tuber crop grown for its starchy root having versatile industrial uses is biologically efficient in the production of calories. Though it is having high productivity, several production constraints including low soil fertility reduce the yield considerably. Therefore an attempt was initiated under MYR in cassava to realize the yield potential through optimizing the nutritional status of the soil. The optimum treatment along with different combinations of the optimum was tried in a field experiment for two seasons with a short duration cassava variety ' Sree Vijaya' . The optimum treatment with NPK @100:300:300 kg ha-1 along with FYM @12.5 t ha-1produced healthy plants with elongated thick stems having good leaf retension that eventually resulted in the maximum tuber yield of 42.08 t ha-1. The cyanogenic glucoside content showed a decline whereas the starch content was slightly improved due to this treatment. Yield components were better in treatments containing either optimal or super optimal levels of one of the nutrients along with optimal levels of the other two nutrients. Not Available |
