Grape (Vitis vivifera) is an important fruit crop of both tropical and subtropical regions. In India, grape is grown in about one lakh nectars with an annual production of eight to nine lakh tones. During the year 2015-2016, India exported 1.56*105 MT of grapes worth Rs. 155.32 crores (Anon., 2016). In terms of production and area Maharashtra leads the country with 86,000 ha under viticulture followed by Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu (NHB, 2010). Commercial grape varieties are highly susceptible to three important diseases viz. downy mildew, powdery mildew and anthracnose. Minor diseases like rust and bacterial leaf spot are gaining importance mainly due to changes in climate. Grapevine leafroll associated virus-3 has also been observed in some vines. Not Available |
