The increasing demand for prawns naturally necessitates increased production. This could be achieved by greater exploitation. But this, as it is understood now, when concentrated in a limited area would lead to a depletion of stock; and hence the need for exploitating the offshore prawns grounds will be felt more. This would require larger and better equipped fishing vessels and would need considerable investment.
