Description Estrus response and fertility were assessed in postpartum (9 weeks) ewes using progesterone in combination with PMSG during winter and summer. Proportion of ewes those exhibited behavioural estrus were 71 %(5/7) and 91 %(10/11) during winter and summer respectively. The onset of estrus was relatively earlier during summer than that in winter. But the difference in mean intervals between seasons was not significant. However, the mean duration of estrus was shorter during winter compared to summer. Out of the ewes bred, the proportion of ewes those lambed at term was significantly higher during winter than that in summer. The present study indicates that use of progesterone in combination with PMSG can be used successfully for induction and synchronization of estrus in postpartum ewes. Better estrus response can be achieved during summer while winter season favours fertility in postpartum ewes.
