Fowlpox is a wide spread disease in poultry all over the world causing major economic losses to poultry industry. Restriction fragment analysis has wide application in differentiating vaccine strains from field strains/isolates (Schnitzlein el al. 1988), hence useful for diagnosis in outbreaks of disease. Although fowlpox virus (FPV) polypeptides were analysed (Mockett et at. 1987, Prideaux and boyle 1987) and the genomic restriction fragment pattern was studied (Couper et at. 1990), yet more needs to be known of this virus specifically from different geographical regions. The present communicatioll deals with comparative restriction fragment pattern of a vaccine strain and 2 field isolates of FPV to look for any variation in restriction profile so as to differentiate the viruses Not Available |
