Monsoonal rainfall had mostly non-significant increasing trend over the region with Khammam and Guntur districts showing significant increase. Extreme rainfall has mostly shown increasing trend but it was statistically significant over only Guntur district. Maximum one day rainfall has shown increasing trend over most of the grids with significant trend over Nalgonda, Visakhapatnam and Guntur districts. Both the frequency of extreme rainfall and its proportion to the total monsoonal rainfall have mostly increased over the state, but the statistics could gain significant values in few places over the study period. Overall, the trend in rainfall extremes from several indices indicates towards an increase, which is mostly concentrated to the mid to southern part of Andhra Pradesh especially the coastal regions. The results also clearly show large spatial variability in extreme rainfall trends over the region.
