Abstract/Description: | Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is an important cereal crop, constitutes 40 per cent of total food grain produced and supplies 30 per cent calories in the diets of Indian. The anaerobic environment of rice soil creates a unique and challenging environment for the efficient management of soil and fertilizer nutrients. Supplying essential nutrients in adequate rates, sources, application methods, and application times are important factors that influence the productivity and sustainability of rice. The soils, climatic environments, cultivars, productivity level and other biophysical conditions vary considerably among different rice ecologies. This paper emphasizes current, research-based knowledge on best management practices in regards N, P, K, S, B, Fe, Mn, Zn and Si for sustainable rice production in different rice ecologies. |
