| Abstract/Description: | Twelve fungicides and five fumigants were screened for their use in the storage of chilgeza (Pinus gerardiana Wall.) seed by standard food poisioning technique. The in vitro study report that four fungicides namely thiram, phenyl mercury acetate, methoxy ethyl mercury chloride and tolyl mercury acetate gave satisfactory inhibition of mycoflora invasion during storage but thiram was best. The different fumigants used in the form of volatile fungal inhibitor (VFI) tablets, formalin and metadinitrobenzene gave the best result. In case of in vivo study thiram, tolyl mercury acetate and chloroneb among the fungicides and metadinitrobenzene among the fumigants completely eliminated the external as well as the internal mycoflora of the seed during storage. |
