Abstract/Description: | Groundnut is one of the major oilseeds of India. Groundnut oil is mostly used for direct human consumtion. The utility of vegetable oil broadly depends on its suitablity as a source of dieestable ene rgy. Suitability of groundnut oil for these however, depends on the profilc of saturated and unsaturated fatry acids in the oil. Therefore. it rs rmperative that equal attention be given on the yreld and qualrty of the oil. In the present stutiy an attempt rvas made ro indentify high yiclding groundnpt gcnotypes having high Oleic: I-enoleic acid ralio,,r,,ith less erusic acid content. 'Iwenty one groundnut genotypes comprising four different botanical forms were grown in R B D rvith three replications of x 5 m plot ar tu,c locations viz Midnapur and Purulia district of West Bengal during Kharif season for successive three years. Data were recorded at crop maturity for seed yield and 100 seed weight. Oil content of rhe seeds was determined by Soxhlet method according to Piper(1966) from l2-17 hours oven dned seed material at 60-70oC. Fatty icrd composition of the ten selective genotypes was determined b_v runnrng sample in GLC using DE.GS(Diethylene glycol succinate) column at 220.C decteror temperature and injection temperature of 2000.C. |
