Abstract/Description: | Fish silage was prepared from fishery wastes collected from KFDC Karnataka. Fishery wastes was added with 1 colon 1 ratio of 3 percentage (v/w) of formic acid and propionic acid and kept it for liquefaction. The pH was checked regularly which was maintained well below 4 and became stable. The proximate and quality parameters were analyzed periodically. The proximate parameters of the liquid silage was showing a moisture level of 81 percentage protein of 15 percenatge, fat of 5.78 percenatge and ash of 3.3 percentage . Among the quality parameters PV value ranged from 2.03 plus or minus 0.064 to 2.14 plus or minus 0.062 milliequivalent per kilogram, TBA value from 4.06 plus or minus 0.02 to 4.25 plus or minus 0.06 mg Newton per 100 gram. TMA value from 2.29 plus or minus 0.16 milligram percentage to 3.72 plus or minus 0.13 mg percentage TVBN value from 19.01 plus or minus 0.12 mg Newton per 100 gram to 26.33 plus or minus 0.19 milligram Newton per 100 gram and TPC value of 6.4×106 cfu per gram initially and then showed a decreasing trend. The quality of silage remained prime during the storage period and hence can be included as a promising ingredient in the animal feed |
